The Social Handshake is expanding! Until now, donors on our giving platform could only choose from a limited selection of charities, but that is about to change.

There are so many amazing charities doing important work! And while we don't have the capacity to screen all charities in the Netherlands each year, we don’t want to exclude them either.

That’s why from now on, any charity can join our platform, provided they meet certain conditions. In addition to our existing selection of screened charities, donors on our platform will also be able to support other charities that they feel passionate about!

How to Sign Up

Signing up takes just 30 minutes and involves a few simple steps:

  1. Check the Requirements – ANBI status is required. A CBF accreditation is a plus, but not mandatory. Political and religious organizations cannot apply.

  2. Gather Your Information – Make sure you have your organization’s details ready, such as a logo, images, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and RSIN numbers, address, and IBAN.

  3. Enter Your Information – Start the sign-up process and input the required information.

  4. Pay the Subscription Fee – Payment can be made easily online.

  5. Sign the Agreement – The Cooperation Agreement and corresponding General Terms and Conditions can be signed digitally during the registration process, after payment.

  6. Wait for Approval – Once we have reviewed and approved your application, we will make your charity live! We aim to process your application within two weeks.

 

Subscription Fee

Would you like to receive donations via The Social Handshake? Then we will register, verify, and upload your charity to our platform. This process incurs costs, part of which is covered by an annual subscription fee.

The fees, excluding VAT, are as follows:

  • €99 for charities with total revenue < €100,000

  • €199 for charities with total revenue €100,000 - €500,000

  • €299 for charities with total revenue €500,000 - €2 million

  • €399 for charities with total revenue €2 million - €5 million

  • €499 for charities with total revenue > €5 million

Payment can easily be made online during the sign-up process.

100% of the donations your charity receives via our platform will be transferred to you via a third-party foundation and paid out monthly.

Congratulations! Now that your charity is live on our platform, donors can easily contribute. This offers many benefits:

  • 100% Donations, 100% Impact – Employers use Payroll Giving and other services from The Social Handshake. They pay a small fee for administration and the platform, ensuring that every donated euro goes entirely to your charity.

  • Every Euro is Worth More – With Payroll Giving, €1 from an employee can be worth up to €3 for your charity! Employees benefit from tax advantages, and many employers even match their employees' donations. Good to know: charities can exclude employers at any time.

  • Many Giving Options, More Opportunities – In addition to Payroll Giving, we offer various other giving options, such as Charity Gift Cards, Christmas Giving, Bonus Giving, Birthday Giving, and more. This means countless ways for people to support your charity further.

 

Spread the Love!

How many donations you receive will partly depend on your efforts. Spread the Love!

  • Let your supporters know that they can support your charity through Payroll Giving or Charity Gift Cards, by sharing this in newsletters and on social media.

  • Inform your corporate partners that their employees can support your charity through our platform. Employers can highlight your charity to their employees, increasing your visibility and donations!

  • We’re always open to welcoming new employers to join Payroll Giving, Charity Gift Cards, or our other services. Do you have corporate partners who might be interested? Let them and us know! Together, we can make a bigger impact!

FAQ 

Who uses the platform?

The users of Payroll Giving and our other giving options are primarily Millennials and Gen Z. We also facilitate corporate donations to charities.


Can charities refuse donations from companies?

Yes, charities can refuse donations from companies at all times.


How many donations do charities receive?

People choose for themselves which charities they want to support on our platform. We cannot predict how often you will be chosen. However, you can increase the number of donations by letting your supporters and corporate partners know that you are on the platform. So far, The Social Handshake has facilitated nearly 1 million euros in donations, and we are growing every month.


What requirements must a charity meet to sign up?

To sign up as a charity, ANBI status is mandatory. CBF accreditation is desirable but not required. If a charity does not have CBF accreditation, it must provide a link to its most recent annual report. Political institutions, such as political parties or organizations exercising political power, as well as religious institutions, such as churches, mosques, and other organizations focused on religious activities, cannot sign up.

How Does a Charity Become an Outstanding Charity?

In mid-2025, we will select new outstanding charities from all the charities that are connected to The Social Handshake at that time. Charities will be informed about the process in due course.
