This wonderful amount is the end result of our Emergency Fund campaign, in which 30 companies participated. Employees could easily support charities through The Social Handshake platform, and the participating companies doubled all employee donations.

We would like to thank all employees for their support and the organizations for this heartwarming result. In this way, making an impact together with employees is even more meaningful and impactful!

Tens of thousands of people were hit by a strong earthquake and multiple aftershocks in Türkiye and Syria on Monday. Many people are scared and have to spend the night outside in the freezing cold due to the risk of collapse.

Stichting Samenwerkende Hulporganisaties are joining forces and calling on the whole of the Netherlands to take action for the victims of this humanitarian disaster to provide assistance in search and rescue operations and try to get as many people out from under the rubble as possible. As well as providing first aid, staff ambulances, and transport to the hospital. Furthermore, they ensure that people can donate blood that they transport to the disaster area and distribute blankets, tents, food and meals.

Syria and Türkiye have been hit by a strong earthquake, followed by violent aftershocks. Stichting Vluchteling has taken immediate action in Syria with a focus on medical first aid and treating the many injured. For this purpose, mobile medical teams have been deployed in northwestern Hama. Since the start of the war in 2011, Syria has faced a disaster-on-disaster scenario: war, poverty, hunger, the spread of diseases such as cholera, and a collapsed healthcare system. The consequences of this terrible earthquake are added to that. Stichting Vluchteling is concerned for all victims of the earthquake and more than ever there is an immediate need for emergency aid, such as food and medicine. With your donation, you can contribute to emergency aid for refugees where it is most needed in Türkiye and Syria.

A major earthquake in the border area of Türkiye and Syria killed at least thousands of people and it is children who are most affected and vulnerable. UNICEF, no matter how difficult and unpredictable the situation may be, comes into action wherever there is a child in need. Children and families are, because of the danger of collapse, in the icy cold without any protection. The blizzards in the region make it even harder. In order to survive, UNICEF is helping to provide immediate emergency aid in the affected areas such as medical care, food, blankets, and psychosocial help. Through your help, we can ensure that our teams are always prepared to provide immediate life-saving assistance to children in need.

Syrian refugees in Türkiye have become even more vulnerable as a result of this disaster. VluchtelingenWerk Nederland stands up for their rights and calls for this large group not to be forgotten in the coordinated aid programs for the victims. VluchtelingenWerk also helps Syrian refugees through its local partner organization in obtaining new documents that were lost during the quake. That is important because, without these documents, refugees are stateless. If the police check them for papers and they cannot show them, they are threatened with deportation to unsafe Syria. Furthermore, VluchtelingenWerk offers a listening ear to Syrian refugees in the Netherlands who are uncertain about the fate of family members left behind in the disaster area and refers them to the right organizations.

Free Press Unlimited

Free Press Unlimited has been working in and around Syria for over 11 years to support the local development of media and media workers in all regions of the country so that they can report on the reality in Syria.

These media are being hit hard because politicized local, regional, and international media have pressured their ability to upkeep independence and professionalism.

The media organizations we work with in the earthquake zone have been hit hard, but every journalist alive has lost their entire family, colleagues, and friends once. "Even the war didn't hit us that hard!" Despite their losses, these independent journalists want to continue working to provide reliable information to their own residents and those outside Syria. Information that can be life-saving now more than ever.

Our media partners now have to literally and figuratively build everything from scratch. They need our help finding new assembly and broadcast locations, equipment, secure connections, sleeping places in temporary accommodation, food, and blankets, but also help to survive.

These journalists must be able to continue to practice their profession as everyone has the right to reliable information. Directly. Donate and help.

Did you know that your donation helps independent Syrian journalists provide life-saving information?
